In addition, in the US, along with the tracks, “Run Like Hell”, and “Don’t Leave Me Now”, “Another Brick in the Wall” reached number fifty-seven on the disco chart. It was also released as a single and provided the band’s only number-one hit in the United Kingdom, the United States, West Germany and many other countries. Part II is a protest song against rigid schooling in general and boarding schools in the UK in particular. All parts were written by Pink Floyd’s bassist, Roger Waters. “Another Brick in the Wall” is the title of three songs set to variations of the same basic theme, on Pink Floyd’s 1979 rock opera, The Wall, subtitled Part 1 (working title “Reminiscing”), Part 2 (working title “Education”), and Part 3 (working title “Drugs”). The Disc Jockey Version is clean as can be because I found that one on a Novelty CD a few years ago. I found one with a lot of record pops in it and cleaned it up as much as I could. With the fact that this song was played repeatedly for years in the schools, it was hard to find a copy of it that wasn’t all scratched or skipped alot. The lyrics are basically the same, besides that there are less of them, and the sound is the same. The first is not merely an edit of the second, but actually a somewhat different recording. By 1979, the primary group’s members were Cenac, Yvette “Lady E” Cook (who would later marry Cozmo D), Monique Angevin, and Bob “Chilly B” Crafton (who would later marry Angevin). The group’s popularity grew as it played block parties in Brooklyn. They are primarily known for their 12-inch singles “Jam-On’s Revenge”, re-released as “Jam on Revenge (The Wikki-Wikki Song)” in 19’s “Jam on It”.Ī precursor to the group, known as Jam-On Productions, formed in 1977 in Brooklyn, New York, which included teenagers Ben “Cozmo D” Cenac and his cousins Monique and Pierre (Pete) Angevin.
